Product environment

Sécheron developed its stray current monitoring system SCMS to prevent corrosion caused by stray currents on equipment in the railway and non-railway installations.

When stray currents leave the intended traction current return path and flow to the earth or through other structural components to return to the traction substation, corrosion is generated on any metal part buried in soil.

Our SCMS is a simple, efficient solution to monitor stray currents, eliminating the need for repetitive manual measurement and interference with the stray current collection system. Our SCMS is compliant with the recommendations in the EN 50122-2:2011 standards, continuously measuring the rail-to-earth potential in operating conditions. Our SCMS also offers central analysis, display, signaling, and logging capabilities.

Technical Data
  • Data analysis by Central Evaluation Unit (CEU).
  • Data collection from VGUARD (Voltage Limiting Device) or measuring plate.
  • Measure – number of measuring points : 100 for one system.
  • Frequency of acquisition : 1s.
  • Communication protocols. IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104 (-5-101), Modbus TCP.
  • Visualization and archiving – Instantaneous values : in function of time / 16 weeks.
  • Visualization and archiving – Short and Long analysis values: average values/average of the absolute value, in function of time or position, archiving for 10 years minimum, average window from 1 to 60min for short analysis, average window from 1 to 60min for long analysis.
  • Multi-languages.
  • Measurement and certification before operating could be provided.
